Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service serves a resident population of 1.1 million divided amongst the areas of Newcastle, Sunderland, Gateshead, North Tyneside and South Tyneside situated in the North East of England.
Our vision of ‘Creating the Safest Community’ can be achieved by providing the people of Tyne and Wear with the services they want and need, to the highest possible standard. This enables us to achieve our mission to ‘save life, reduce risk, provide humanitarian services and protect the environment’.
To help us achieve our vision we adopt modern and effective recruitment processes to attract, recruit and retain talented individuals who thrive in working for an organisation who have a ‘can-do’ culture as well as helping and serving the community.
The career of a Firefighter can span 40 years and the day to day duties can be incredibly challenging and rewarding. Being trained to the highest standard, being constantly developed and contributing to the safety of the community makes this a unique opportunity.
Surprisingly we don’t just employ Firefighters we also have a wide range of alternative support opportunities which ensure the Firefighters can carry out their role effectively.
These roles range from administration, HR, IT, technical, mechanical, Financial to Cooks and Gardeners. These positions are carried out at premises throughout the Tyne and Wear area.
To manage all of our emergency ‘999’ calls we employ Control Room staff to ensure we respond immediately when we are needed and our fully trained personnel will provide vital support and guidance to you during these calls.
If you are interested in working for the Fire and Rescue Service and supporting safety in the community in which you live and work, look no further than the vacancies we have available at present.
