Further Information

The Inclusion and Specialist Support Service requires a SEND Case Officer to work within the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Assessment Team 0-25 to support the service in the statutory duties relating to Education Health and Care Plans and support the ongoing implementation of SEND inclusion.

A recent SEND Local Area Inspection described Middlesbrough as a place where children and young people with SEND and their families are valued, visible and included. In Middlesbrough, local area partners work to a shared vision that ‘Middlesbrough children matter”.

If you would like to be part of a team contributing towards positive outcomes for children and young people with special educational needs, then we would love to hear from you!

The post holder will work closely with a range of partners including schools, parents/carers, social care colleagues, health services, youth offending and educational psychology to ensure timely education, health and care assessment are completed within statutory timescales, for children and young people aged 0-25 and to ensure appropriate provision is made available to meet the needs of individual children and young people.

The role will involve attending meetings relating to Education Health & Care Plans, interpreting, and analysing written advice and evidence from partner agencies involved in education, health and care assessment or review and making recommendations regarding appropriate provision for young people and the content of associated statutory documentation in accordance with the SEND Code of Practice. We are looking for individuals with a flexible 'can do' approach.

Essential skills to carry out the role include excellent teamwork skills and effective time management. The work is fast paced but rewarding. An ability to prioritise workload is key to success within the role. Experience in a local authority, school setting, health service, post 16 or social care environment would be beneficial to enable the successful applicant to promote the multi-agency ethos required to meet the requirements of the role.

For more information, please telephone Laura Taylor (SEND Team Manager) on 01642 201831.
